Sharon Monahan is a partner in the firm's Cable Television practice group where she handles a wide variety of matters for cable operators including FCC regulatory compliance and the implementation of federal, state and local laws impacting cable television operations. Previously, she served as Vice-President, Legal Affairs for Century Communication Corp.. While at Century Ms. Monahan advised management on legal matters including negotiation of cable programming agreements, access to poles, fiber leasing, public and leased access issues, MDU matters and franchising.
Ms. Monahan also provides legal counsel to non-profit organizations in governance and compliance with requirements for charitable organizations. She has extensive intellectual property experience as former in-house counsel to Hasbro, Inc. and Assistant General Counsel to Kenner-Parker Toys, Inc. In that capacity, Ms. Monahan negotiated license agreements, and developed policies for protection of company trademarks worldwide.
Ms. Monahan advises utility clients on contracts negotiation and compliance matters and represents clients in applications for certificates and tariff approvals before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Ms. Monahan has served as a director and as national chair of Women in Cable and Telecommunications.
She is also a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association.
Ms. Monahan is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the U.S. Supreme Court.
