Confidential Treatment For Annual Cable Price Survey Data

March 30, 2006

Selected cable operators have recently been sent an annual Cable Price Survey by the FCC. We understand that cable operators may wish to seek confidential treatment for certain information to be submitted as part of this survey because of the competitively sensitive nature of the information. The attached table details the data for which various cable operators have requested and been granted confidential treatment by the FCC in a related context (FCC Form 325 -Annual Report of Cable Television systems), and! may be helpful as a guide for deciding whether to seek confidential treatment for any data submitted in response to the Annual Cable Price Survey.

Also be mindful that, as with certain other FCC information collection mechanisms, cable operators must submit any requests for confidentiality iV accordance with Sections 0.457 and 0.459 of the Commission's rules.1 Note also that past requests have been denied because they lacked sufficient supporting detail.

We would be pleased to respond to any questions regarding this matter.

1. 47 C.F.R. Sections 0.457, 0.459
