FCC Issues Reminder to Video Programming Distributors Regarding Obligation to Submit Closed Captioning Contact Information to the Commission

The FCC this week issued a Public Notice to remind Video Programming Distributors (VPDs) of their obligation to submit contact information to the Commission for inclusion on the FCC’s website to make it easier for consumers to report closed captioning problems and file complaints. The deadline for submission of this information was March 22, 2010, yet many VPDs have not yet complied with the requirement. As indicated in the Public Notice (attached), failure to meet this obligation could result in enforcement action.
